Senior Transmission Engineer

Matchtech are supporting a key client with requisition of an experienced Senior Transmission Engineer to join their team in a choice of multiple California locations, including Brea, San Diego, Walnut Creek, and Los Angeles.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design of complex transmission line projects from conceptual phase through design completion

Provide technical oversight, expertise, and mentorship for the design staff

Prepare specifications, data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations for transmission equipment

Conduct economic conductor selection studies, lightning performance, and grounding calculations/studies

Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as NESC and California General Order 95

Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines

Contribute to the development of project schedules, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning

Perform quality reviews of production drawings and project-related data

Oversee construction administration including field inspections, calculations, and testing

Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications

Build and maintain client relationships, while identifying new business opportunities

Lead field inspections and provide resolutions for design-related installation issues

Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and company safety policies

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 7 years of transmission engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.

Proven experience in EPC project execution is preferred

Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques, codes, and computer skills (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM, Civil 3D, PLS-CADD)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience in leading design projects and delegating tasks to team members

Ability to perform quality reviews and resolve issues in a collaborative team environment

Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred

Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
