Job type:
Full Time

Early Warning Services has powered the U.S. financial system for over thirty years, helping institutions safeguard transactions for millions of consumers and small businesses.

Locations: Scottsdale, San Francisco, Chicago, or New York. The position is hybrid, allowing a collaborative work environment.

Overall Purpose

Zelle® moves over $1 trillion a year across more than 150 million accounts. In October 2025, Early Warning will expand the Zelle® network to support cross‑border money movement, bringing the speed, trust, and simplicity Americans rely on domestically to international transfers. As Lead UX Designer, you will define the design direction for a product that does not yet fully exist, crafting guidelines and frameworks that ensure consistent, trustworthy experiences for partner institutions.

Essential Functions

  • Lead UX design direction for the cross‑border payments initiative—research, concept exploration, interaction design, and publishing UX standards.

  • Translate complex payment mechanics (cross‑border rails, currency conversion, stablecoin infrastructure, compliance flows) into simple, trustworthy user experiences.

  • Develop and maintain UX guidelines and frameworks for use across the Zelle® partner network.

  • Commission, participate in, and synthesize user research and usability testing to ground design decisions in real behavior.

  • Proactively identify design risks, edge cases, and systemic issues, and drive resolution across product, engineering, strategy, compliance, and partner teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of UX/product design experience, with a portfolio showing leadership‑level craft and strategic thinking across complex products.

  • Deep domain expertise in payments or fintech—direct experience with cross‑border, international, or multi‑currency flows preferred.

  • Fluency in payment systems: rails, cross‑border mechanics, intermediaries, and compliance constraints that shape user experience.

  • Experience designing for platform or network models, influencing partner ecosystems without directly controlling end‑user surfaces.

  • Strong visual design sensibility and proficiency in Figma and prototyping tools.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication—clear, precise, and persuasive with non‑design audiences.

  • Experience authoring UX guidelines or design standards for external or partner consumption.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a payments network, money transfer operator, or global digital wallet (e.g., Wise, PayPal, Remitly, Western Union, Visa, Mastercard).

  • Exposure to stablecoin or blockchain‑based payment infrastructure and its UX implications.

  • Design experience for remittance or cross‑border money movement, understanding cultural dimensions of sending money internationally.

  • Familiarity with compliance UX patterns: KYC/AML flows, sanctions screening, disclosure requirements.

  • Prior design leadership experience: guiding designers, running critiques, setting workstream direction.

  • Webflow or front‑end familiarity (HTML/CSS) as a strong bonus.

What We Value In This Hire

  • Sets direction and frames problems while staying connected to craft details that make experiences trustworthy.

  • Deep intuition for the human dimension of cross‑border payments, including the anxiety and trust involved when sending money internationally.

  • Capacity to navigate long‑term complexity—regulatory constraints, partner dependencies, technical infrastructure—with patience and rigor.

  • Ability to be the design voice among bankers, engineers, and compliance officers without losing the user focus.

  • Intrinsic motivation to bring the trust and simplicity of Zelle® to cross‑border payments.
