Theater Director

Position Summary
Bunnell High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Theater Director to lead and oversee the school's theater program. The Theater Director is responsible for planning, directing, and producing both fall and spring theatrical productions while fostering a positive, inclusive, and educational environment for student performers and crew members. This position requires after-school, evening, and occasional weekend commitments throughout the production seasons.

Essential Responsibilities

Direct and oversee all aspects of the school's fall and spring theatrical productions.

Plan and conduct after-school rehearsals and coordinate production schedules.

Teach and develop students' acting, stage presence, vocal projection, movement, and performance skills.

Recruit, audition, and cast student performers.

Supervise and mentor student stage crew members in collaboration with technical staff or volunteers.

Maintain communication with students, families, and school staff regarding rehearsals, performances, and expectations.

Qualifications

Experience directing high school or community theater productions.

Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Knowledge of theater production, performance techniques, and rehearsal practices.

Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.

Commitment to fostering student growth through the performing arts.

Schedule

Part-time stipend position.

After-school rehearsals during production seasons.

Evening and occasional weekend rehearsals and performances as needed.

Two major productions annually (Fall Play and Spring Musical).

Compensation

Stipend in accordance with the Stratford Education Association collective bargaining agreement.
