GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

The Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, and breakdown of audio, video, lighting, and streaming systems in support of events such as concerts, theatrical performances, meetings, and video productions. This position plays a key role in ensuring technical excellence and smooth execution of events held at the SteamPlant Event Center, the Touber Building, and other City venues.

DUTIES:

Assemble and disassemble AV and stage equipment for events
Load and unload equipment and supplies from trucks and storage areas
Set up musical instruments, microphones, monitors, and related equipment
Operate lighting boards and assist with lighting design for shows
Provide engineering support for live broadcasts and concert audio
Assist with all aspects of video, sound, and lighting production before, during, and after events
Attend pre-production and pre-event meetings and rehearsals
Communicate with Event Coordinators clearly regarding event needs and capacities.
Move furniture, road cases, and production equipment as needed
Follow event plans and instructions from supervisors and production managers
Set up, arrange, and move furniture, equipment, and décor for meetings, programs, and events.
Open and secure facilities before and after events.
Perform routine cleaning of buildings and grounds, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Basic understanding of AV systems and stage production
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing event needs
Comfortable working with the public and providing customer service during events
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED.
At least one (1) year of experience in a related environment such as an event center, theater, production company, or broadcast studio
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

The majority of the duties are performed at the SteamPlant Event Center and the Touber Building
Must be able to operate and troubleshoot AV and lighting equipment for extended periods
Requires frequent physical activity including bending, lifting, stooping, reaching, and maneuvering on varied surfaces
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

PAY/SALARY RANGE:

$23.00-$28.09/hr
