Staff Transmission Engineer - Overhead Transmission

Matchtech are supporting a key client with the requisition of a Staff Transmission Engineer - Overhead Transmission to join their teams in Houston or Austin. This is a permanent opportunity to become an integral part of their Transmission and Distribution Group, with a chance to make a significant impact on projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing technical leadership for overhead transmission design teams

Mentoring, coaching, and developing team members

Independently executing design work with engineering judgment

Performing quality reviews

Identifying and communicating changes to the project scope to the engineering lead and project manager

Providing input and adhering to project schedules

Identifying and communicating technical risks associated with projects

Creating, improving, facilitating, and teaching training courses to the project team and department

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET‑accredited program

Experience in transmission engineering

Consulting experience preferred

Strong knowledge in standard civil/structural engineering techniques and procedures

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS‑CADD, RISA‑3D, MathCADD

Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification preferred

Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organisation, and problem‑solving skills
