Position Title: LPS District Ensemble Assistant Director for West African Music Ensemble

Location: District Office

Position Details:

The LPS District Ensemble Assistant Director for the West African Music Ensemble works with students in grades 9-12. The assistant director is responsible for assisting the director in recruiting students district wide, parent communication, conducting weekly rehearsals, concert set-up/tear-down, sharing responsibilities as needed with the director, and other duties as assigned that support the ensemble. Group rehearsals follow the LPS Calendar with one rehearsal per week for two hours at Lincoln High school. Includes one Spring concert.

Compensation through Extra Standard $2887.50. Non-contractual assignment. Reports to Supervisor of Music.

Education Level: High School Diploma

Certification: Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) OR professional experience in the field

Required Experience: Background knowledge and skills related to African music and culture. Effective teaching methods and approaches.

Other Requirements: Experience in African music performance.
