The Assistant Athletics Director for Events, Operations and Championships oversees the planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution of all athletic events, facility rentals, and campus programming, including student organization activities in athletics facilities. Working independently, the role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase revenue through efficient scheduling, optimized facility use, and the cultivation of new rental clients.
Key Responsibilities
Client Development, Solicitation, and Relations (Revenue Generation).
Event and Facility Operations and EMS Scheduling Management: evaluate user needs and third‑party rental requests to determine event feasibility, operational requirements, and revenue potential, ensuring alignment with facility capabilities and institutional priorities.
Manage the general accounting and budgeting for rental activities for Athletics Facilities. System administration for University EMS system.
Maintenance, Infrastructure, and Facility Readiness.
Qualifications
• Previous experience with events and/or facility operations. • Previous supervisory experience. • Knowledgeable in EMS or equivalent software. • Ability to assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to facilities operations. • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved under the direction of the General Manager. • Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide work direction. • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills. • Must possess excellent customer service skills and be multi‑task oriented. • Ability to work evenings and weekends. • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non‑discrimination policies and procedures. • Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of related experience required.
Previous experience working in a Division I environment preferred.
Regularly works evening and weekend hours.
Licenses
Valid CA driver’s license required.
