The

Production Technician

assembles, builds, and tests Stratasys 3D printing systems and related hardware according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. This role performs mechanical, electromechanical, and electrical assembly, conducts in-process and final functional testing, and accurately documents production and test results to ensure products meet specifications.

Working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, the Production Technician collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Materials teams to resolve production issues, improve processes, and maintain production schedules. The position is responsible for delivering high quality, on‑time products while adhering to all safety, quality, 5S, and standard work practices.

What you will be doing:
Production Processes

Assemble, integrate, and test mechanical, electromechanical, and electrical components and subassemblies into finished Stratasys systems using engineering drawings, bills of material, and documented work instructions

Use hand and power tools, torque equipment, precision measuring instruments, and support applications to complete work orders to specification

Maintain accurate records and traceability while keeping work areas organized, safe, and compliant with 5S standards

Perform in-process, final functional, calibration, and quality checks to confirm units meet engineering and quality requirements

Identify, document, and escalate nonconformances or defects, and support root‑cause analysis and rework as directed

Accurately record test results and inspection data in production and quality systems

Stage and verify materials, components, and kits for production builds, reporting shortages or discrepancies through proper inventory channels

Complete production paperwork, travelers, and electronic transactions to maintain accurate inventory and build status

Support continuous improvement, Lean, and standard‑work initiatives that improve quality, safety, and throughput, and perform other duties as assigned

Equipment Troubleshooting and Test

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a fleet of production test fixtures and associated equipment to ensure reliable operation

Diagnose unexpected equipment and process failures using electrical schematics, technical documentation, and hands‑on investigation

Accurately document troubleshooting activities, corrective actions, and repair history in the organization’s maintenance tracking system

Partner with cross‑functional teams to develop, validate, and execute nonstandard testing, prototype evaluations, and process improvements when requested

Preventative Maintenance

Plan and execute preventative maintenance activities on production test fixtures and support equipment to maximize reliability and minimize unplanned downtime

Regularly monitor the organization’s maintenance management system to identify upcoming work orders, coordinate required materials and replacement components, and complete maintenance activities by their scheduled due dates

Accurately document completed work, inspection results, and corrective actions within the maintenance management system

Balance preventative maintenance responsibilities with day‑to‑day support activities while proactively communicating scheduling conflicts, resource constraints, or anticipated delays to ensure production priorities and maintenance objectives are achieved

Continuous Improvement Project Work

Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and equipment reliability

Participate in engineering and operational projects that expand technical knowledge while contributing to fixture enhancements, process optimization, new equipment implementation, and other cross‑functional initiatives

Complete nonstandard testing, data collection, and project work as business priorities and workload permit

Projects may extend beyond the employee’s current area of expertise, requiring initiative, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and processes

Demonstrate curiosity, develop innovative solutions, and apply sound judgment to solve new and challenging problems

Must have for this role:

Associate’s degree in engineering or a technical related field

1+ years of hands‑on assembly, manufacturing, or production experience in a mechanical, electromechanical, or electronics environment

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, bills of material, basic software code, and written work instructions

Proficiency with hand and power tools, torque and measuring equipment, and basic computer/ERP transactions for production records

Nice to have:

Experience building or servicing complex hardware, such as 3D printers, capital equipment, or precision electromechanical assemblies

Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices

Experience working within a quality management system (e.g., ISO 9001) and documenting quality standards

Soldering, cable/harness assembly, or electrical test experience

Additional Information:
For this position, the typical starting pay is from $26 to $33 per hour, which does not include variable incentive pay. This range represents a good faith estimate. Your individual base pay will depend on skills, qualifications, geographic location, and/or experiences.
