Role involves unsupervised safe operation and monitoring of multiple polymer reaction processes, loading and unloading tank trucks and railcars, performing filtering operations and transferring materials to containers or bulk storage, with responsibility for safe handling and housekeeping.
Responsibilities

Transfer product and raw materials through proper lines by identifying the correct line and completing hookups.
Visually check lines, connections and bleed-off valves before, during and after transfer.
Operate digital and mechanical scales, meters, pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement, air, etc.), filters, homogenizer, heat exchangers, hoists, hose connections and transfer stations as needed.
Operate forklifts to safely move material.
Know tank capacities for the work area.
Know raw material incompatibilities to avoid contamination.
Monitor degassing process on computer screens to determine appropriate sampling times; record basic data.
Takes samples from blow-down tanks and reactors, turns valves, and takes lab samples.
Load tank trucks and tank cars, including spotting trucks, connecting hoses, verifying connections, and monitoring loading.
Weigh trucks and operate the computerized weight ticket system.
Transfer pallets containing bags of raw materials to mezzanine; make up solutions in tanks by adding water and raw materials to specification (must be able to lift/carry 50 lb bags).
Measure storage tanks, rail cars, reactors and blow-down tanks as needed.
Unload bulk raw materials and operate related equipment with safety compliance (LOTO, etc.).
Support QS 9000 compliance efforts and communicate with operators and supervisors to process batches correctly; perform shift turnover and ensure proper equipment functioning.
Attend required meetings and participate in safety and operations communications as needed.
Education & Experience

Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: Minimum years of manufacturing experience as specified by the company.
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

High school or equivalent degree.
Ability to handle up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks related to assembling and operating reactors.
Ability to follow instructions and record data.
Effective communication with colleagues.
Motivated to learn new tasks and concepts.
Working knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, email).
ISO-9001 and Process Safety Management familiarity.
Ability to operate a computer.
