Intern - SDPB Media Production (Fall)

Position Title: Media Production Intern

Minimum Salary: $18.83 per hour

Eligibility
Applicant must be a current part‑time or full‑time student (minimum of 6 credit hours) in the upcoming semester or the immediately preceding semester.

Position Description
As a crew member for television production programs, the intern will operate camera, audio board, and assist with set‑up of equipment for remote productions. Additionally, the intern will record, write, and edit video stories for social media. Interns also operate field production equipment as a videographer and edit video and audio for SDPB staff. The role requires familiarity with camera operation, Adobe Creative Suite, and media lighting and sound.

Applicants should have taken two production classes—one focused on television field production and one focused on television editing. Studio production experience at a college station or local news station is preferred. Script writing and storytelling class work would be helpful but is not required.

Qualifications
Applicant must be enrolled as a part‑time or full‑time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time of application. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

All students are encouraged to apply. Preference may be given to applicants who are juniors or seniors, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
