We are recruiting for a
Controls Engineer
on behalf of a respected automation and engineering company in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. If you enjoy solving real-world automation challenges, working directly with clients, and seeing projects through from design to startup, this could be a strong fit.
This role offers a mix of
design, programming, troubleshooting, field support, and customer interaction . You will work on industrial process and manufacturing control systems, helping clients improve reliability, efficiency, and performance. You will also have the flexibility of a
hybrid work arrangement , with time split between home, office, and client sites.
What you’ll be doing
Designing and engineering industrial control systems using new and legacy hardware and software
Programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, servos, VFDs, and industrial networks
Supporting projects from concept through commissioning and post-installation support
Diagnosing and resolving system issues both remotely and onsite
Working directly with customers to understand needs and deliver practical solutions
Supporting control panel design and documentation with
UL 508A
standards in mind
Collaborating with internal teams and helping develop technical solutions for client proposals
What our client is looking for
5+ years of industrial controls or automation experience
Strong hands‑on experience with
Rockwell / Allen‑Bradley
Background in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming
Knowledge of servos, VFDs, industrial communications, electrical schematics, and panel layouts
Understanding of
UL 508A
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or similar practical experience
Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused approach
Ability to travel up to 10%
