The Midland Reporter Telegram, a proud member of Hearst Newspapers, is looking for a visionary, digitally driven Editor to oversee our print and digital news operations. Drive the editorial vision and strategic direction for both digital and print platforms.
Lead a team of journalists to produce high-quality, engaging, and impactful content across multiple platforms.
Shape digital-first workflows while maintaining strong print standards.
Collaborate with audience, product, and marketing teams to optimize reach and engagement.
Use audience data and analytics to inform coverage and elevate reader experiences.
Assign stories, guide editorial planning, and ensure journalistic excellence in every piece published.
Edit and approve copy with an eye for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and tone.
Oversee daily operations including layout, production, deadlines, and budget.
Represent Midland Reporter Telegram as a visible community and industry leader.
A passion for impactful, community-focused journalism.
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
10+ years of progressive newsroom experience, including newsroom leadership.
Proven ability to lead teams, coach talent, and deliver results under deadline.
Strong grasp of digital platforms, content management systems, and data tools.
Mastery of AP Style, grammar, and editorial best practices.
Excellent judgment and editorial instincts, with the ability to balance breaking news, enterprise, and audience interests.
A collaborative spirit and the ability to work across departments.
Skilled in time management, page layout, and multi-platform storytelling.
