This internship is a hands‑on, physical processing project. The intern will work directly with historical materials to arrange and describe original documents to prepare them for long‑term preservation and researcher access.
Internship Responsibilities

Creating a processing plan
Assessing and applying basic preservation measures as needed
Identifying appropriate subject and name headings for the finding aid and library catalog record
Creating a promotional social media post to highlight the collection
Under the guidance of their supervisor, creating a DACS‑compliant finding aid using ArchivesSpace
Making the completed finding aid publicly accessible to support research and discovery
Handling the physical and intellectual arrangement and handling of sensitive materials on‑site
Internship Qualifications

Preference may be given to current students or recent graduates in an MLIS or MLS program
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to read cursive handwriting is a plus
Position is in Rowley, MA and reliable transportation is required
Note: This is an on‑site internship.
