Multimedia Journalist, KRTV

KRTV, the E.W. Scripps CBS affiliate in Great Falls, Montana, is seeking a talented Multimedia Journalist who will bring compelling stories to life across multiple platforms. In this role you will research, write, shoot, and edit content that informs and engages our community.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and tips to develop story ideas.

Gather and verify factual information regarding stories through interview, observation, and research.

Organize material, determine slant or emphasis, and write stories according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.

Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.

Edit or assist in editing videos for all multimedia platforms.

Appear on television programs when conducting taped interviews or narration.

Give live reports from the site of an event or mobile broadcast unit.

Work cooperatively with the photographer assigned to a story, if one is assigned.

Assist the news producer in preparing newscasts.

Assist online staff in preparing for multimedia stories.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

BS/BA in a related discipline or equivalent years of experience (preferred).

Generally, 3+ years of experience in a related field (preferred).

Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the required company limits.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems.

Videography and non‑linear editing experience (preferred).

Knowledge of broadcast‑quality camera equipment.

Experience editing video on Final Cut Pro or similar systems.

Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.

Proficiency in posting content to various websites.

Self‑motivated and able to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
