Social Media Specialist
University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine – School of Medicine Communications. Work Location: Hybrid.
Key Responsibilities
Work with Social Media Program Lead and Communications Program Managers to develop social media strategy across platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky) to promote the mission of the School of Medicine and its divisions.
Generate photos, videos, and infographics for social media.
Support the Social Media Program Lead in maintaining the social media editorial content calendar.
Develop, implement and track the effectiveness of social media or digital campaigns.
Respond promptly to messages, comments and inquiries.
Monitor social media for mentions of the School of Medicine and engage in relevant online discussions.
Build and maintain relationships with faculty and staff within CU Anschutz School of Medicine and shared services units.
Collaborate with colleagues at CU Anschutz, UCHealth, Children's Hospital Colorado, Veterans Affairs, and other partners as appropriate.
Identify and implement best practices regarding communication strategies, tools, and practices.
Attend campus communications meetings as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public or media relations, journalism, or a related field.
Substitution: a combination of education and related experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree on a year‑for‑year basis.
Two (2) years of experience in professional or branded social media growth and management, or in related communications, public relations, and marketing (preferably in health care or higher education).
Preferred Qualifications
Communications experience in a university, academic medical center or large hospital system.
Experience with Smartsheet, Sprout, or other calendar/social media management tools.
Experience with photography, videography, and video editing.
Additional training or professional development in social media strategy, SEO, content management systems, and video editing.
Experience with project management, prioritization, timelines and ensuring on‑time deliverables.

Exceptional independent writing skills and experience developing clear, concise, key‑message focused communications.
Willingness to learn and apply feedback on social media best practices.
Excellent knowledge of editing, grammar and AP style.
Ability to work with multiple perspectives and actively listen to understand others’ viewpoints.
Demonstrated ability to capture and consistently deliver a brand or person’s voice.
Strong data literacy, including KPIs, trends, dashboards and reporting.
Highly organized and dependable, capable of multitasking and managing multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
Self‑starter who can work independently and within a team environment.
Demonstrated creativity and problem‑solving skills.
Knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures.
Pay Range
$54,254 to $72,701.
