Senior Director of Development, Fisher College Of Business

Job Overview

The Senior Director will understand the mission and needs of the university and Fisher College of Business and build relationships with prospective donors to increase philanthropic support. The role includes actively managing a portfolio of prospective major‑gift donors ($100,000 and above) and preparing for gifts through strategic solicitation, donor cultivation, and capacity assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and cultivate a portfolio of prospective major‑gift donors, building relationships and discovering donor values, capacities, interests, and passions.
  • Develop and implement strategic gift solicitations, build proposals, and steward donors to enhance relationships.
  • Maintain quality momentum within the assigned portfolio to convert prospects to donors.
  • Provide daily management, hire, train, and develop assigned staff (if applicable).
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Travel frequently, including one or two overnight trips per month, regular in‑state travel, and occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Advancement, the university, and Wexner Medical Center, including secondary fundraising roles.

Metrics and Collaboration

Performance is measured by annual qualifications, cultivations, solicitations, commitments, and dollars raised, with goals set in collaboration with the manager prior to each fiscal year. Fundraisers are encouraged to collaborate and may be counted as secondary on gifts.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Six years of relevant experience, including at least four years of professional fundraising experience building relationships toward philanthropic ends and two years of related experience in marketing, sales, public relations, financial advisement, account management, or related field.

Desired Qualifications

  • At least six years of professional fundraising experience raising high‑level philanthropic gifts (preferably five or six figures).
  • At least six years of professional fundraising experience in higher education or a hospital/health‑care environment.
  • Experience working in advance departments such as donor relations, stewardship, donor communications, or alumni relations.

Additional Information

The Office of Advancement is committed to providing tools and resources for learning proprietary databases and university processes. The budget for this position is up to $105,000, with offers based on internal equity and qualifications.

In accordance with the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy, this position is designated as a standby position.
