North Carolina A&T State University – Chief Communications and Marketing Officer
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, the nation’s largest historically Black university and a premier doctoral research, land‑grant institution, is seeking an innovative, high‑level strategist to join the community as the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer (CCMO). Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff, the CCMO will architect and execute a comprehensive, integrated branding and communications strategy that will elevate N.C. A&T’s identity across all internal and external channels, ensuring the bold mission and strategy of the university resonates with constituents.
As a key member of the Vice Chancellor’s leadership team and the Chancellor’s Cabinet, the CCMO will serve as the university’s primary chief storyteller and brand steward, proactively coordinating communications, public relations, media, and marketing to enhance the institution’s image and message in the context of its bold strategic plan. Working closely with senior leadership, the CCMO will define strategic priorities, identify new opportunities, and establish official institutional policies and style guidelines. This role provides executive leadership across marketing and community relations, collaborating with university stakeholders and colleagues to ensure a consistent, high‑impact presence at the local, state, and national levels. The CCMO will have the ability to leverage their expertise to support the institution’s identity as a growing, innovative, and dynamic university.
The CCMO is an accomplished communications and marketing professional with progressive leadership experience in higher education, non‑profit, or other comparable settings. They have expertise in developing sophisticated marketing communication strategies and in the creation of multi‑channeled strategic communication, marketing, and public relations plans. In addition, strong leadership and experience serving as a trusted adviser to executive leadership, the CCMO possesses superior oral and written communication skills. The CCMO has demonstrated evidence of working with interdisciplinary academic programs with a high research output. The CCMO is an adaptable and innovative leader who can coordinate teams and resources to deliver sophisticated and data‑informed strategies for a wide range of audiences.
Responsibilities: the full‑time position will be performed on‑site in North Carolina. Salary will be commensurate with experience and accompanied by a generous benefits package.
