Asst. Director of Broadcast Operations & Engineering
Reporting to the Athletics Broadcast Engineer, the Assistant Director of Broadcast Operations and Engineering will assist with the management, production and transmission of live sporting contests, studio shows and special events for Villanova Athletics. The role focuses on the operation of all linear networks, ESPN+ and in‑venue videoboard shows across the department. Responsibilities include maintaining, troubleshooting and operating all broadcast and audio systems, serving as the technical lead for event crews, and ensuring compliance with University, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Serve as Engineer in Charge for Villanova Sports Network/ESPN broadcasts and video board shows, including control room and venue setup, equipment management, and crew oversight.
Oversee maintenance and transmission operations of broadcast and audio/video systems.
Manage IT and broadcast systems, including video routers, servers, and studio equipment.
Maintain in‑venue videoboard displays and associated support.
Provide customer service and act as technical liaison to teams and units.
Collaborate on enhancements and strategic initiatives.
Oversee recruitment, training, scheduling and payroll for freelance staff, post‑graduate interns and student interns.
Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Background and proficiency in broadcast engineering, video/audio signal flow and transmission.
Positive attitude, high energy, ability to excel in fast‑paced live environments.
Leadership experience with freelance staff, students or interns.
Strong organizational, interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
Commitment to NCAA, Conference and University rules; integrity and character.
Team player willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Detail‑oriented, proactive problem‑solver.
Basic understanding of IP networking concepts (subnets, VLANs, switching).
Familiarity with Ross Video environment.
Professional work environment with significant night and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with managed network switches and broadcast‑grade networking equipment (Cisco, Arista, or similar).
Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
Working Conditions
Professional office and athletic venue settings.
Significant evening, weekend and holiday hours required.
Salary and Benefits
