Assistant Band Director

The position of an Assistant Band Director will be available at East Central ISD for the 2026-2027 school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in these positions must apply online through Frontline via the district website. Primary Purpose: Assist in directing and managing the overall program of instrumental music at Valor Middle School. Assist in providing students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and ensure compliance with all state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and district requirements. Assist in planning activities to achieve district, region, and state recognition.
Essential Job Functions: Assist with the district band program at the high school, middle school, and intermediate schools. Conduct one or more bands/sectionals. Teach beginners, conduct the second band, assist with the first band, co-conduct the third band, jazz band, and applied music. Assist in the responsibility for a coordinated effort supervised by the high school band director to compliment the high school band program with properly trained band students through yearly exit tests. Assist in providing for band participation at extracurricular events, including concerts, athletic events, TMEA, pep rallies, parades, and UIL activities. Assist in establishing performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student's eligibility to participate in band. Assist in preparation of solo & ensemble, concert band and music preparation. Assist in the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all band equipment. Assist in preparing lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with parents, students, administration, colleagues, and community members. Assist students individually. Attend rehearsals and performances. Assist with the marching band. Assist in providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth and provide an opportunity to participate in band. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Build positive relationships with students and staff modeling character, integrity, and leadership. Perform other duties as assigned by the campus principal. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certificate: Bachelor's degree in Music Three years successful experience working with public school bands Appropriate Texas Teacher's Certificate Music (EC-12)
Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; automated external defibrillator (AED)
Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district and statewide travel. Moderate amounts of standing, protracted and irregular hours of work, moderate amounts of lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds); may lift and move musical instruments. Work outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures (hot, cold, and inclement weather), humidity, and prolonged sunlight; work on uneven or slippery surfaces; frequent exposure to noise. Travel between campuses on a daily basis. Football game stadium conditions. After school outside marching band rehearsals. Travel on a standard school district bus. Normal classroom environment.
Period of Employment: 2026-2027 School Year Salary: Based on 2026-2027 Classroom Teacher Salary Scale plus stipend
