Associate Designer, Dresses
The Associate Designer, Dresses, will design on-trend dresses, jumpsuits, and rompers across knits and wovens while managing line plans for in-house and private label accounts. The role involves creating tech packs, approving fabric and trims, coordinating with overseas offices, and staying attuned to market trends to inspire fresh, commercially viable designs. Collaborating closely with merchandisers, design directors, and fabric teams, the designer ensures collections align with brand strategies, timelines, and cost efficiencies.
Responsibilities:
Design & Product Development
Design dresses, jumpsuits, and rompers across various price points in both knits and wovens
Maintain line plans for in-house and private label accounts
Develop and execute tech packs and flat sketches using Adobe Illustrator
Approve fabric quality, trims, and colors while providing clear feedback for revisions
Ensure timely delivery of high-quality samples by coordinating with overseas offices
Stay updated on industry trends and competitive landscapes, leveraging insights for design inspiration
Conduct market research and shop for inspiration to identify new product opportunities
Adhere to time-and-action calendars to meet production timelines
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with Merchandisers and the Design Director to ensure assortments align with brand concepts and SKU plans
Partner with the fabric team to source trending materials and trims, balancing cost efficiency and design quality
Requirements
Minimum 3 years in a Designer role, specializing in dresses for the women's junior market
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, tech pack creation, and a strong understanding of fabric, trims, and construction
Proven ability to design on-trend, commercially viable products
Excellent communication skills with a team-oriented approach and the ability to present ideas effectively
Thrives in fast-paced environments and delivers results under tight deadlines
Familiarity with private label development and brand differentiation strategies

New York Pay Rate $55,000 - $75,000
