Vice President for Marketing and Communications
Florida State University (FSU) invites applications, nominations, and inquiries for the position of Vice President for Marketing and Communications (VPMC). This is a newly established, cabinet level role reporting directly to the President.

FSU is a leading public research university with over 46,000 students and an annual operating budget exceeding $2.3 billion. Located in Tallahassee, Florida’s capital city, FSU holds the Carnegie Foundation’s highest research designation (R1) and is widely recognized for its rising academic and research profile, strong enrollment demand, and national visibility.

The Vice President for Marketing and Communications serves as the University’s senior leader for institutional brand, reputation, and enterprise‑wide marketing and communications. The VPMC provides strategic leadership for marketing, communications, executive messaging, digital strategy, and reputation management across a complex, decentralized organization and serves as a trusted advisor to the President and senior leadership.

The successful candidate will lead the development of a cohesive, integrated marketing and communications strategy that aligns the University’s many voices around shared priorities and a compelling institutional narrative. This leader must demonstrate the ability to guide enterprise‑wide initiatives, foster collaboration across colleges and divisions, and advance marketing and communications as strategic partners in achieving institutional goals.

Qualifications:

Hold a master’s degree with at least eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, brand management, or a related field; or a bachelor’s degree with at least ten (10) years of experience.

Significant senior‑level leadership experience is required.

Experience in higher education, the public sector, or similarly complex mission‑driven organizations is strongly preferred.

Applications should include a CV or résumé and a letter of interest and be submitted through the WittKieffer Candidate Portal. All applications, nominations, and inquiries are welcome. Materials should be received by June 8, 2026.

Florida State University is an Equal Opportunity Employer. In accordance with Florida’s Sunshine Law, search committee business is open to public review.
