Position Summary
The Student Broadcasting Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) is responsible for writing, filming, and editing news stories for the live broadcast, website, and social media. The MMJ reports to the Senior Instructor and the COMM / FILM faculty. This is a student position open to current UIW students who may be hired through the Federal Work‑Study Program or other student employment.

Essential Functions

Promote education while serving the university as a positive, reliable, and entertaining source of campus news, sports, and events.

Manage the daily operations of UIWtv.

Learn real‑life production challenges and gain professional experience for students interested in the production process and aesthetics of broadcast television.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ability to shoot, write, and edit news packages and VO/SOTS.

Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, camera equipment, and strong writing skills.

Team player with a willingness to help mentor students.

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Commitment to adhere to all applicable university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Required Education
Full‑time UIW Communication Arts student.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful completion of COMM 3395 TV Practicum or COMM 3353 Broadcast Journalism.

Knowledge of TriCaster production switcher.

Required Work Experience
None.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
None.

Work Hours
Monday – Friday, up to 20 hours per week.

Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Salary
$12 per hour (undergraduate).
