Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Operates professional digital or analog video cameras used in studio or field productions.
Directs live or live-to-tape productions in studio or field with knowledge of director cues.
Operates an audio control board console.
Floor directs the flow of a production as dictated by the director to talent during production using appropriate hand cues and signals.
Edits video footage and audio using PC or MAC with non-linear editing software.
Uses computer graphic software to create lower-third graphics and full-screen graphic pages during pre- and post-production.
Operates a motor vehicle to travel to and from field productions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Data Utilization:
Perform basic data analysis: review, classify, prioritize, reference data, statutes, guidelines and/or groups.
Human Interaction:
Provide guidance, assistance, interpretation to others on how to apply policies, procedures, standards to specific situations.
Equipment Use:
Operate, calibrate, tune, synchronize, adjust equipment such as camera, computer, editor, switcher, production vehicles.
Verbal Aptitude:
Utilize reference and descriptive data and information (regulations, production forms, scripts, etc.).
Mathematical Aptitude:
Perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Functional Reasoning:
Apply principles of rational systems, interpret written/oral instructions, exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards.
Situational Reasoning:
Exercise judgment, decisiveness, creativity in evaluating information against subjective criteria.
Environmental Factors:
Tasks may involve exposure to heat, bright lights, electrical currents.
Physical Requirements:
Perform moderately physically demanding work (lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 20 lbs), stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, balance, bend, climb for camera operation, lighting, cables, and equipment movement.
Sensory Requirements:
Recognize differences in color, shape, sound, texture for camera setting, editing, and operation.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Communications or related field; plus one year of full‑time paid video/TV production experience (camera operation, editing equipment, on‑camera performance, script writing, narration, or related production work).
OR
an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License Requirement
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license during employment. Must provide proof of a valid driver’s license at the time of filing the application and upon request. Only qualified applicants who provide proof will be considered.
