is seeking a senior Strategic Communications professional to support the Office of the Undersecretary of War for Policy (OUSW(P)) and Assistant Secretary of War for Cyber Policy (ASD(CP)). This critical role delivers high‑level strategic communications and public affairs support in a senior‑level, fast‑paced Pentagon environment, including media relations, strategic engagement, social media management, speech writing, and content development focused on the integration of national cyberspace policy with DoD cyberspace policy.

Responsibilities

Write and edit communications including speeches, talking points, brief slides, and remarks for use in presentations and other requirements.

Lead the Public Affairs portfolio across various classified/unclassified efforts, ensuring mission‑aligned messaging.

Produce strategic communications plans, leadership messaging, and open‑source media rollups for DoD cyberspace policy and strategy related topics.

Develop, research, and provide written materials for a wide range of audiences and topics, mostly regarding DoD cyberspace policy and strategy.

Manage the organization’s social media platforms and campaigns.

Work with various stakeholders to identify appropriate messaging for speaking and engagement opportunities.

Translate ideas, objectives, and leadership positions into messaging that relates to the topic, speaker, and intended audience.

Prepare a variety of communications materials including white papers, visual and digital media, and program briefs.

Submit draft outlines, speeches, and written documents to senior leadership for revisions and approval.

Schedule rehearsal sessions with the speaker and provide them with tips and advice.

Skills/Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in Strategic Communications and Public Affairs roles.

Demonstrated experience building media relationships, refining social media strategies, PR writing, and managing stakeholder and government events.

Strategic Communications experience supporting senior‑level Government Officials with designing and executing global public relations strategies.

Key skills include Public Affairs Management, Digital Communications and Social Media, Press Release Writing, Strong Verbal/Written Communication, Media Relations, National Media Correspondence, Strategic Networking, Executive Correspondence, Executive Editing, Communication Strategy Development.

Must have experience managing customer expectations and working directly with customers.

Must have outstanding customer service abilities, initiative, judgement, creativity, flexibility, and confidence.

Must have the ability to multi‑task across multiple projects.

Desired: Understanding of cyberspace policy and related DoD and Federal cyber‑focused organizations (CYBERCOM, DHS CISA, etc.).

Education
B.A./B.S. from an accredited school

Clearance
Active TS/SCI is required
