Staff Visual Designer

To elevate the design standards across Mercury's product experience, the full-time Staff Visual Designer will redefine and implement foundational improvements to the design language, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and set the craft bar for the design organization, all while working remotely or from select U.S. locations.
Key responsibilities

Redefine and ship large, foundational improvements to Mercury's design language, including type, color, and iconography
Partner with Brand and other craft leaders to integrate expressive moments into the product and align visual language
Coach product designers on their craft, providing feedback to enhance the overall quality of the design system

Required qualifications

10+ years of experience in visual design with expertise in typography, color systems, and iconography
A portfolio demonstrating foundational systems work and high-craft visual design
Experience in coaching or mentoring designers with a clear understanding of strong craft
Proficient in design tools and front-end prototyping with React, with an affinity for AI-assisted prototyping
Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate design decisions effectively
