Church Description: Trinity Episcopal Parish (Trinity/Old Swedes Church) is a welcoming, inclusive Episcopal community serving Wilmington, Delaware, across two historic urban locations. Rooted in the Anglican tradition, the parish centers its life on worship, service, and spiritual growth. Role Description: This role is $184 per week. The Staff Singer is a part-time, on-site role based in Wilmington, DE, supporting the musical life and worship services of Trinity Episcopal Parish. This role is 4 hours a week. Trinity’s six paid singers are supplemented each Sunday by a highly skilled and dedicated corps of another 8 to 12 volunteer singers for a versatile ensemble of 14 to 18 singers. The 2026/2027 season runs from September 10 to May 23. Thursday evening rehearsals are at 7:00 pm, and Sunday morning call is at 9:00 am for one Sunday worship service. Applicants MUST be available to sing all Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday services to apply. Staff Singers, who serve as both soloists and section leaders, must be excellent sight-readers and adept and comfortable singing in a wide variety of musical genres and styles in a fast-paced environment. Singers must also be punctual, reliable, and willing to work in and foster a spirit of collegiality and collaboration. Our choir is extremely hard‑working, dedicated, and focused, but also loves to create great music while having lots of fun and enjoying our time together.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in music and singing, with the ability to read notation accurately and perform a wide range of sacred repertoire.
Candidates should possess choral skills, including blend, tuning, diction, and experience singing in structured ensemble settings.
Candidates should be punctual and reliable, with availability to sing all Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday services.
Excellent sight-reading, ear training, and vocal technique appropriate for sustained choral work.
Previous experience in church music, sacred choral singing, or work within Anglican/Episcopal liturgical traditions is highly beneficial.
Ability to collaborate respectfully with diverse colleagues and congregants, maintaining a professional and inclusive attitude.
Formal musical training, such as a degree in music, vocal performance, or equivalent professional experience, is preferred.
