Director, Digital – essie DMI

Location: 10 Hudson Yards, New York, NY

Division: Consumer Product Division

Reports to: AVP, Global Brand Engagement

Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in digital brand management, web development product ownership, or e‑commerce within the beauty/fashion industry.
  • Technical & Service Literacy: Deep understanding of web master management (CMS, roadmap, UX/UI, navigation) and beauty tech integrations, specifically Virtual Try‑On (VTO) tools.
  • Commercial & Agency Governance: Experience handling agency procurement, contract negotiations, budget tracking, and financial validation.
  • 360° Content Expertise: Mastery of the digital asset lifecycle across Owned, Earned, and Paid media, with experience drafting 360 briefs and releasing global assets/dossiers to local markets.
  • Data & Analytics: Highly data‑driven with the ability to translate e‑commerce metrics and user behavior data into concrete website optimization and content personalization plans.

Responsibilities

  • essie.com
    • Manage the master website. Own the roadmap for web development: including content planning, posting, backend maintenance, etc.
    • Manage creation/development of the strategy, including all platform initiatives, and ongoing development of site creative, optimizations, and enhancements.
    • Ensure user experience of the master website including design & aesthetics, functional content, and navigation.
    • Manage web marketing strategies and tools.
  • E‑commerce
    • Innovate on new content ideas that differentiate the brand in the e‑commerce space.
    • Work closely with Brand content team to brief and create specific e‑Commerce content.
    • Create global e‑com activation plan (including events calendar and assortment/special packaging).
    • Work closely with brand content team to brief and create Brand Store + Hero SKU content.
  • Services
    • Manage the development and localization of essie’s virtual try‑on tool, leveraging explicit and implicit customer data.
  • Content & Campaigns
    • Identify, partner, and manage Digital agencies to drive innovative developments that increase the demand for and engagement with products through platform channels.
    • Oversee the agencies responsible for the creation of campaigns & content:
      • Oversee & review agency progress.
      • Ensure content meets the Brand DNA.
      • Sign off agency contract & financials.
    • Oversee the creation of campaign content and ensure it resonates with the consumer:
      • Manage creation of above the line marketing communication content for projects.
      • Owned media content: social media content, website & mobile app content (film, videos, visuals, packshots, posts, hashtags).
      • Earned media content: UGC content, blogger & influencer content.
      • Paid media content: PR content, SEM guidelines, display ads, e‑retail kits.
    • Advise Category Product Campaign Management on content of 360 brief into action plan for content production. Supervises team with key project milestones & acts as validation point.
    • Oversee the release of dossiers (assets) to the countries from Product Campaign and Content Management.
  • Reporting
    • Manage budget and ensure resources are used in an optimal manner and within agreed expenditure budgets.
    • Manage analytics, share analysis and drive action and continuous improvement plans.
    • Work with data and analytics to improve platform performance and share insights across brand/globally.
