International Media Relations Executive - (12 month FTC)
Find yourself at the heart of Manchester United’s global media strategy. The role leads on international media relations, delivering world‑class media and PR activity, managing relationships with key stakeholders, and enhancing the visibility of players, staff, and the club.
Key duties include developing and executing international communications strategies, cultivating relationships with global media outlets, supporting media operations, and coordinating media events for Men’s, Women’s, and Academy activities.
Responsibilities
Establish and develop strong relationships with international media, broadcasters, journalists and stakeholders to align with club communications.
Support media rights obligations and discretionary access for fixtures, including staging interviews, press conferences and events with a focus on international players and non‑English speakers.
Grow and diversify the audience by deepening connections with existing fans and attracting new supporters, while elevating player profiles.
Develop creative, engaging communications approaches for non‑endemic international media, covering both proactive and reactive campaigns.
Support the majority of men’s home and away fixtures and hold substantial responsibilities within UEFA competitions.
Produce clear, compelling written materials such as press releases, features, briefings and messaging documents.
Monitor international media and social media to provide advice, identify trends, flag risks, and support communications efforts.
Collaborate closely with internal teams – content, marketing, commercial and Foundation – to ensure aligned, integrated activity.
Evaluate and report on activity, campaigns and approaches to inform internal decision‑making and external narratives.
Qualifications
Fluency in additional languages; proficiency in French, Spanish and/or Portuguese is preferred.
Relevant experience in communications, PR or media, with strong experience within elite sport or football.
Excellent understanding of the global sports media landscape, key journalists, platforms, and audience expectations.
Proven track record of establishing strategic relationships with key external stakeholders.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, strong editorial judgment and attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate effectively across a complex organisation and communicate confidently with multiple stakeholders.
Strong work ethic, discretion, and a proactive mindset recognising the demanding schedule of elite sport.
