KVEO-TV NBC 23 and CBS 4, serving the Rio Grande Valley, is looking for an energetic, dynamic, and driven Weekend Anchor/Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) to join our award-winning newsroom.

The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands how to connect with audiences across television, digital, social, and streaming platforms. This position will anchor weekend newscasts while also reporting multiple days during the week, producing impactful stories that matter to the communities we serve.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about breaking news, enterprise reporting, and developing strong local sources. The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently in the field and collaborating closely with producers, photographers, digital staff, and newsroom leadership.

Responsibilities

Anchor and produce weekend newscastsand provide clear direction to team members

Presents news stories and other content for all platforms, including CTV Digital

Contribute story ideas

Host a Digital CTV Show

Uphold the highest standards of journalistic integrity and production quality

Write and deliver clear, concise, and engaging news stories

Collaborate on writing, copy editing, research, and coordination of news programming

Report from the field as assigned and conduct interviews

Respond quickly to breaking news and urgent newsroom situations

Participate in promotional activities and community events

Performs special projects and other duties as assigned

Shoot and edit video clips as assigned

Writes content for the website and other digital platforms

Engage with viewers and users on social media.

Requirements & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field, or equivalent experience.

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to ad-lib when necessary.

Minimum of four years’ experience in news reporting or anchoring (varies by market size).

Strong on-air presence and excellent news judgment.

Broad knowledge of local and national current events, history, and key issues.

Leadership experience with the ability to guide, motivate, and mentor others.

Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong listening and problem-solving skills.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Flexibility to work any shift.
