The Marine Institute of the Maui Ocean Center is a non-profit organization based in Maui, Hawaiʻi, dedicated to ocean conservation and education. Established in 2016 and introduced at the IUCN World Conservation Congress, we protect Maui’s marine ecosystems by uniting science, community engagement, and education to restore ocean health and inspire lifelong stewardship. We do this through four core programs: Sea Turtle Rescue & Rehabilitation, Hawaiian Monk Seal Response, Coral Reef Restoration, and Conservation Education. Role Description

We're looking for a creative, purpose-driven communicator to help amplify The Marine Institute's mission across social media. You don't need a marine biology degree, you need curiosity, storytelling instincts, and a genuine care for the ocean. If you've ever wanted your work to matter beyond the feed, this is it.
This is an unpaid, portfolio-building internship inside an active conservation organization. You'll collaborate with our team on campaigns, create content about ongoing fieldwork, and engage with a growing community of ocean advocates.
What you'll do
Create and schedule content across platforms
Engage with followers and grow our community
Support marketing and fundraising campaigns
Help with graphic design and visual storytelling
What you'll bring
Comfort with Instagram, Facebook, and similar platforms
Clear, adaptable writing and communication
Creative thinking and a storyteller's eye
