Base Rate: $13.00/HOUR
General Statement of Position
The Sports Monitor supervises adult and youth sports activities sponsored by the City of Aurora’s Parks and Recreation Department. The position works under the general supervision and guidance of the Sports Coordinator and/or the Director of Parks and Recreation.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Supervise nightly adult and youth sports programs.
Assist with facility set-up, officiating, and scheduling.
Assist in maintenance of league standings and results.
Assist in the preparation and administration of coach/manager meetings.
Assist in marketing programs to the community.
Assist in the inventory and ordering of sports equipment.
Training, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General knowledge of sports programs.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to work diplomatically and in coordination with city personnel, school personnel, and the general public.
Ability to effectively complete assigned projects.
Solid interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Education Required
High school diploma or GED.
Additional Requirements
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Must be able to pass a general background screen.
Must submit to and pass a 10‑panel drug screen.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, frequently stand and/or walk, use hands to handle, finger, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, walk, sit, bend at waist, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, speak and hear with regard to receiving supervision and providing supervision, work with vendors, and communicate with the general public. The individual must periodically lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance and must have the ability to work outdoors for long periods of time in varying weather conditions. Employee is required to wear/use all Personal Protective Equipment as assigned.
