Position Summary
St. Andrew’s School seeks a collaborative accompanist to fill a pivotal role responsible for designing the liturgical soundscape of the school and supporting the musical growth of our students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Choral Accompaniment & Education
Accompany the choir during choral classes on a rotating schedule (2–3 times per week).
Conduct sectionals for choral rehearsals and work individually with voice and instrumental students to prepare for chapel and performances.
Learn all choral accompaniments and vocal parts off campus; create accompaniment recordings for student practice as needed.
Musical Theater (Seasonal: November – February)
Work closely with the Musical and Theater Director throughout the season. Direct musical rehearsals daily from 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM.
Rehearse the pit orchestra during the two weeks leading up to the production and conduct them during the performance.
Accompany the musical production during “Tech Week” and the performance weekend. Prepare all musical theater scores, accompaniments, and parts prior to rehearsals.
Job Requirements
Experience in conducting choral sectionals.
Strong sight‑reading capabilities required, specifically regarding hymnals and choral open score.
A strong commitment to working in an educational setting with the ability to mentor, guide, and patiently develop the skills of student musicians.
Conditions of Hire
