Accompanist

at our

West Foothills High School

located in

Waddell, AZ . Candidates must possess, or be willing to obtain, a valid AZ IVP fingerprint clearance card.

Responsibilities

Perform piano accompaniment for practice, rehearsals, and performances of school choirs.

Lead section rehearsals by playing parts, identifying student mistakes and problem areas, correcting mistakes and providing the right notes and rhythms.

Coach solos and ensembles by arranging or transposing music, teaching notes and rhythm, recognizing and resolving intonation problems, teaching good vocal techniques, providing suggestions regarding interpretation of music and encouraging students.

Provide assistance to substitute teachers by leading rehearsals as necessary.

Locate and select concert musicians as necessary.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills

Strong ability to read sheet music and adapt to different musical genres.

Good interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and other performers.

Ability to adapt quickly to different performance and rehearsal environments.

Strong organizational skills to manage music parts and schedules effectively.

Ability to sit for extended periods during rehearsals and performances.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Music or related field

Proficiency in piano or relevant instrument

Strong understanding of music theory
