Position Summary
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for day‑to‑day site operations, including supervising the warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. This includes planning inbound and outbound volume, managing customer communication activities, space utilization and management, and equipment management. People‑management responsibilities encompass hiring and training, labor‑management planning, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems. As part of the DSV team, associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality while complying with all corporate and site‑specific policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably in accordance with company policies and client SLAs.

Manage operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals, driving continuous improvement efforts and cost‑saving measures.

Meet all client‑specified KPI’s and uphold quality system requirements.

Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create fair and equitable supervision, counsel, and discipline team members when needed.

Collaborate with Human Resources to create hiring, training, and professional development programs; participate in performance evaluation and HR activities.

Leverage the skilled workforce to deliver results efficiently.

Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical operational issues.

Plan daily work schedules by reviewing work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions; prioritize based on time sensitivity and resources.

Assess volume demands to reorganize warehouse space and adjust supply, equipment, or staffing levels.

Ensure effective training of team members by qualified individuals and adherence to SOPs.

Support leadership in assessing trainee progress for new hire performance and cultural fit.

Maintain high motivation and focus on customer satisfaction.

Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.

Support adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Conduct routine staff meetings to review daily/weekly activities.

Management Information Systems

Ensure team members are properly trained and efficient in required information systems, including WMS.

Purchase necessary computer software and hardware in accordance with corporate IT policies.

Remain knowledgeable about changes in hardware and software technology.

Develop proficiency in client systems.

Customer Management

Maintain high‑level customer service standards.

Provide required operational and administrative support to client accounts.

Maintain appropriate contact with all functions and respond to requests.

Attend or lead meetings with key customers to discuss issues.

Coordinate management of supplier/customer visits to the site.

Promote positive client relationships through excellent service.

Budgeting and Financials

Support development of an annual operating budget.

Manage a system of controls to ensure service levels and operational performance meet cost, revenue, and profit parameters.

Ensure budgeting and pricing activities comply with contract guidelines.

Equipment and Facilities

Maintain company standards of sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and equipment, including MHE.

Ensure team members are properly trained on MHE.

Keep informed of relevant new technology and make recommendations as applicable.

Safety

Achieve company safety goals by establishing a proactive safety culture.

Audit the warehouse for compliance with safety, security, and quality principles.

Adhere to all statutory health and safety requirements.

Other Duties

Work overtime as dictated by business needs.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage warehouse operations supervisors and support staff.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Seven years’ experience in logistics, distribution, or a related environment.

Five years’ experience in a supervisory role.

Must work in unregulated temperatures ranging from mild to moderate during warmer and colder months.

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Demonstrated proficiency with WMS systems.

Language Skills

English reading, writing, and verbal communication.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, employees are rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is usually low to moderate.

Salary
For this position, the expected base pay range is $90,816.00 – $113,520.00 Annual. Actual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
