About the Role

The Company is in search of a Head of Programs to spearhead the establishment and leadership of a new programs division. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with a strong background in program development, MGA/MGU relationships, and underwriting governance. Responsibilities for this role include managing existing surety and liability programs to meet strategic, financial, and operational targets, as well as building the infrastructure, strategy, and partnerships necessary for the growth of a high-performing delegated authority and program underwriting business. The Head of Programs will also be tasked with identifying and onboarding high-quality MGAs/MGUs, affinity groups, and distribution partners, and ensuring the division's focus on profitability, loss ratios, and capital efficiency.

Applicants for the Head of Programs position at the company should have a robust experience in the insurance industry, particularly in program management, underwriting leadership, or MGA/MGU oversight. The role requires a candidate with a proven track record in managing complex insurance programs and portfolios, strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills, and excellent knowledge of insurance products, pricing, and distribution strategies, with a preference for those with surety experience. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and delegated authority models is essential, as is the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work in a fast-paced, evolving environment. The Head of Programs will also be responsible for aligning claims strategy with underwriting and pricing, and for attracting, developing, and retaining a highly qualified team of underwriters, analysts, and operational support staff.
