Shaw Local Radio is seeking a hands‑on, solutions‑oriented Radio Broadcast Engineer to support and maintain our growing group of radio stations across Northern Illinois. This position is ideal for an experienced broadcast engineer who enjoys a variety of technical challenges, from RF systems and studio operations to IT networking and transmitter maintenance.

Responsibilities
Maintain and troubleshoot FM, AM, HD Radio, and translator facilities
Monitor and maintain transmitter sites, STL systems, and RF equipment
Support studio equipment including consoles, automation systems, audio processors, codecs, and satellite receivers
Manage broadcast IP networks, firewalls, switches, and wireless systems
Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs
Coordinate with tower crews, vendors, and regulatory agencies as needed
Ensure FCC compliance and maintain required technical records
Assist with facility upgrades, equipment installations, and technical projects
Provide after‑hours technical support on a rotating basis
Qualifications
Experience in broadcast engineering, telecommunications, IT networking, or a related technical field
Working knowledge of radio transmission systems and studio operations preferred
Familiarity with IP networking, routing, switching, VPNs, and remote access technologies
Ability to diagnose and repair electronic equipment
Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills
Valid driver's license and ability to travel between station locations
Ability to occasionally lift equipment and work at transmitter facilities
Preferred Qualifications
Prior radio or television broadcast engineering experience
Knowledge of Wheatstone, WideOrbit, Marketron, ENCO, Burk, Nautel, GatesAir, or similar systems
SBE certification
FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL)
Experience with HD Radio and audio‑over‑IP systems
