Musical Assistant (Choreography) – High School
The role of Extra Duty – Musical Assistant Director (Choreography) is to create dance and performance routines that align with the theme of the middle or high school musical production. The assistant works under the Musical Productions Theater Director to combine dance moves and theatrics for student actors.

Purpose Statement
The position is responsible for designing dance routines, blocking, and formations for performances, providing feedback to student groups, coordinating with staff, managing equipment, and supervising students during extracurricular events.

Essential Functions

Assist in creating the vision of the production for an engaging show for students, staff, and community.

Construct the blocking and formations during dance segments, ensuring all actors and crew know their stage placement during performance.

Create dance routines that relate to the theme of the production and enhance visual effects.

Evaluate student performing groups and provide valuable feedback and critique.

Coordinate with staff to foster a positive culture.

Manage equipment to ensure all items required for the event are accounted for.

Supervise students at extracurricular events in accordance with Board policies.

Other Functions
Perform other related duties as assigned for efficient operation of the unit.

Job Requirements
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Essential skills include adapting to changing work priorities, applying laws, policies, and regulations, coordinating with other schools, facilitating program goals, organizing and communicating information, and possessing theatrical, sewing, and costume design knowledge.

Knowledge necessary includes basic math, equipment usage, relevant legal and professional standards, and general acting principles.

Abilities required: scheduling activities, gathering and collating data, using equipment, flexibility, leadership, team building, problem solving, and working extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Experience

Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Testing / Licenses

Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance required.
