One Act Play Director – Triton High School
Overview
The One Act Play Director provides leadership and artistic direction for Triton High School's One Act Play program. This position is responsible for preparing students for the Minnesota State High School League One Act Play competition while fostering creativity, teamwork, confidence, and personal growth. The director creates a positive and educational environment where students develop their theatrical skills and represent Triton with pride and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Student Development

Plan and conduct rehearsals focused on acting techniques, stage movement, characterization, and performance skills.

Teach theatrical fundamentals while promoting creativity, collaboration, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Develop student confidence, leadership, responsibility, and communication skills through participation in theater.

Foster an inclusive environment where all participants feel welcomed and valued.

Production Preparation

Select and prepare an appropriate One Act Play production in accordance with Minnesota State High School League rules and guidelines.

Organize auditions, casting, rehearsal schedules, and production timelines.

Coordinate all production elements including costumes, props, sets, lighting, sound, and stage management.

Prepare students for performances and MSHSL One Act Play competitions.

Program Support

Organize and communicate rehearsal schedules, performance dates, and competition information.

Maintain and inventory costumes, props, scripts, and production equipment.li>

Work within the program budget and assist with production planning.

Support the goals and expectations of Triton Fine Arts and Activities.

Student Engagement & Safety

Supervise students during rehearsals, performances, competitions, and related travel.

Promote responsible citizenship, positive behavior, and academic success.

Ensure student safety and compliance with district policies and MSHSL regulations.

Communicate effectively with students, families, administration, school staff, and volunteers.

Collaborate with technical staff, custodial staff, and other fine arts advisors to ensure successful productions.

Represent Triton Public Schools and the One Act Play program in a positive and professional manner.

Qualifications

Experience directing theatrical productions or participating in theater preferred.

Experience working with high school students preferred.

Knowledge of acting, stage direction, and theatrical production techniques.

Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and community members.

Minnesota teaching license preferred but not required.

Compensation
Compensation is based on

Schedule C

of the Triton Education Association Master Agreement.
