Overview
The Fall Play Director provides leadership and artistic direction for Triton High School's annual fall theatrical production. This position is responsible for creating a positive, educational, and engaging experience for students while fostering creativity, collaboration, confidence, and a passion for the performing arts. The director works closely with students, school staff, families, and community volunteers to produce a high-quality performance that reflects the values and mission of Triton Public Schools.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Direction
Select an appropriate production in collaboration with school administration.
Plan and organize all aspects of the fall play from auditions through final performances.
Direct rehearsals while teaching acting techniques, stage movement, characterization, and performance skills.
Develop rehearsal schedules and ensure productions remain on schedule.
Student Development
Foster creativity, confidence, teamwork, leadership, and responsibility among student performers and crew members.
Provide a positive, inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported.
Encourage commitment, professionalism, and personal growth incorporating Triton's Profile of a Graduate through participation in theater.
Production Management
Coordinate production needs including costumes, props, sets, lighting, sound, makeup, and stage management.
Recruit and supervise student crews and coordinate volunteers as needed.
Work within established budgets and maintain production materials and equipment.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, administration, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and performances.
Collaborate with custodial staff, activities personnel, technical support, and other directors at Triton to ensure successful productions.
Represent Triton Fine Arts and Activities in a positive and professional manner.
Student Safety & School Expectations
Supervise students during rehearsals, performances, and related activities.
Promote responsible citizenship, respect, and positive behavior.
Ensure compliance with district policies and procedures while maintaining a safe learning environment.
Qualifications
Experience directing theatrical productions or working in theater preferred.
Experience working with high school students preferred.
Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and time-management skills.
Knowledge of acting, stage direction, and theatrical production processes.
Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and community volunteers.
Minnesota teaching license preferred but not required.
Compensation
Compensation is based on
Schedule C
of the Triton Education Association Master Agreement.
