Permanent PD Substitute, available immediately for the 2025-2026 school year.
Opening Details:
This role provides daily assignments in Grade 5‑6 classrooms and can include support in other elementary schools as needed. Salary is $140 per day, with school days from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
General Description
The Elementary Professional Development Substitute Teacher delivers instruction and classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring a productive learning environment, following lesson plans, and adapting instruction to student needs.
Key Responsibilities
Follow lesson plans to ensure continuity of instruction.
Maintain student behavior, enforce school rules and policies.
Deliver instructional material clearly and engagingly.
Supervise students during lunch, recess, and non‑instructional times as required.
Support individual student needs with additional guidance or assistance.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
Ensure safety and well‑being of students at all times.
Report any concerns to the regular teacher or principal.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Prior experience with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
Ability to manage a classroom and adapt to varied teaching situations.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Patience, flexibility, and ability to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
Knowledge of basic educational principles and practices.
Preferred: State of CT Teacher Certification.
