What's the role?
The Commercial Manager will be self‑motivated, disciplined and commercially astute, taking ownership and responsibility of the commercial requirements of the business across all Scottish projects. They will establish, shape and drive the commercial strategy and financial reporting to achieve business, project and functional targets.
They shall be accountable for the ongoing assurance of any contract requirements from our Customers. They will provide leadership, guidance and support to the commercial and contract management team and will demonstrate a deep understanding of the legislation and contractual conditions governing disputes resolution.
Working Conditions
– Remote. 40 hours per week Monday - Friday. Base location can be from our Aviemore or Glasgow office. Our current project locations are primarily across Northeast Scotland, Sutherland, and Caithness. Due to the travel element of this role, a full UK drivers licence is essential along with flexibility to travel to live project sites.
Key Responsibilities
Providing commercial input for tender negotiations
Contract management and administration
Supply chain management and administration
Cost capture and control including completion of the monthly, quarterly and yearly trading analysis
Responsible for cash management
Liaison and negotiation with the Customer’s commercial, operations, and project teams
Establishing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with key Stakeholders.
Implement commercial procedures and reporting
Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained
Management, guidance and development of commercial personnel
Provide commercial advice to the Directors
What we're looking for
BEng in Quantity Surveying (or similar degree)
Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen
Well‑developed analytical, oral and presentation / communication skills
A creative, strategic and innovative approach to problem‑solving
Extensive experience of drafting effective contractual correspondence
Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge and experience
Confidence and ability to assert influence
Proven track record in commercial management within construction sector
