VFX Artist Job at Rebellion in Warwick

We’re looking for an experienced VFX Artist to join a passionate and growing VFX team and work on an exciting large‑scale project developed with our proprietary engine “Asura”.

The VFX team is responsible for all visual effects in Rebellion’s games, including particle, screen post, material, mesh destruction and UI effects.

Responsibilities

Craft and design high‑quality real‑time particle effects that elevate the look and feel of the game.

Maintain strong artistic and technical standards, making refinements to ensure effects are both polished and performant.

Use available assets to immerse players in rich, atmospheric worlds that enhance the game’s narrative and experience.

Draw on game design documents to understand environments, objectives, storylines, and overall style, ensuring your effects support the project vision.

Qualifications

An accomplished real‑time VFX portfolio that demonstrates timing, clarity, and a strong artistic eye.

Professional experience, whether through studio roles, internships, or substantial personal projects such as game jams or mods, as well as familiarity with source control systems, will help you stand out.

Proficiency with industry tools such as Blender, Photoshop, Substance, and After Effects (or equivalent software).

A solid understanding of particle system fundamentals and texture creation workflows for games.

Familiarity with simulation tools such as Houdini and Embergen (or similar) for creating flip‑book assets.

Knowledge of 2D particle texture techniques and how to apply them effectively in real‑time effects.

The ability to take concept art, design goals, and references and transform them into polished, performant effects that enhance gameplay and storytelling.

Location
This role can be based at any of our studios in Oxford, Warwick or Runcorn. Relocation and hybrid options are available.

We can provide a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation, and full support to ensure a smooth transition to your new environment.

We are open to hybrid options, encouraging face‑to‑face collaboration at our Oxford headquarters while valuing flexibility.
