General Event Production and Stagehand Crew
Groundwork Operations, LLC provides general and specialized crew to set-up and break-down indoor and outdoor events throughout New York City and the nearby New Jersey areas. Our team works on projects of all sizes, from single-member setups to large-scale events such as the NY Marathon.
This is a gig-based role offering flexible work schedules. Crew members may be called upon for overnight and weekend shifts. The position includes support for load-in and set-up at the client’s event or project site.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload trucks
- Distribute and collect materials
- Set up and break down tents, tables, chairs, barricades
- Install and dismantle signage and hardware structures
- Package, palletize, and remove trash
Hard Skills
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds
- Ability to reach, kneel, and bend
- Ability to safely use basic tools (hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, box cutters, etc.)
Soft Skills
- Strong self‑management and reliability for gig-based scheduling
- Openness to feedback and continuous self‑improvement
- Effective communication and collaboration with clients and co‑workers
- Positive attitude under stress
- Detail-oriented and procedural compliance
- Adherence to safety practices in fast‑paced environments
Hiring Requirements
- Valid State ID
- Working email address
- Consistent working smartphone with a data plan for mobile apps
- Ability to complete online employment paperwork with e‑signature
- To arrive on the first shift in black attire with work gloves (no large logos)
Preferred Experience
- Operating specialized moving equipment (pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies)
- Operating forklift, scissor, or boom lifts
- Driving cargo or passenger vans
- Professional moving, warehouse, packing, shipping, and receiving experience
- Stagehand, AV, concert, and theater work
