St. Augustine – 32 E Potomac St, Williamsport, MD 21795

St. James (Boons-Hage) – 121 N Main St, Boonsboro, MD 21713

St. Joseph – 17630 Virginia Ave, Hagerstown, MD 21740

The Catholic Parishes of South Washington County are currently seeking a part‑time accompanist for the churches of St. Augustine, St. James, and St. Joseph. The accompanist will play the piano for principal Sunday celebrations, Holy days, weddings, funerals, and possibly some practice sessions at the direction of the Music Director. Travel between the three churches may be required for some Masses. The stipend is per event.

Essential Functions

Play the piano for principal Sunday celebrations, Holy days, weddings, funerals

Arrive for Masses in advance to review requested music without detracting from the quiet prayer of the assembly

Attend rehearsal times on instrument as directed by the Director of Liturgical Music

Continuously update professional competence and liturgical education as needed

Perform other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

Proficiency in piano is required

Education and/or experience in Catholic liturgy and liturgical documents on sacred music

Virtus training completed and kept up to date

Ability to work with Director of Liturgical Music, cantors, and choir for weekend Masses, Holy Days and devotions

Strong awareness of the role of the accompanist in Catholic liturgies: ability to gauge volume, adjust tempo, and perform at a level that encourages assembly participation and enhances the sense of sacred music

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and collaborative skills to perform job duties

Range
$100.00 stipend per event
