Marketing and Communications Intern

Position Overview
Location: North Charleston, SC
Department: Communications, Volunteer Engagement and Events Division
Reports To: Chief Connections Officer
Status: Intern, part-time, up to 15 hours per week (Spring Semester 2025, Mid‑Jan to Mid‑Apr 2025, possibility to extend into Summer 2025)
Responsibilities
Collaborate on design projects to produce clear, engaging graphics and brand‑compliant communications.
Assist with writing, editing, and layout of e‑newsletter content.
Maintain email opt‑outs and sign‑ups for e‑newsletter in CRM database and Constant Contact.
Translate Trident United Way’s messaging concepts into marketing materials.
Edit, proofread, and communicate changes on projects from agency or other graphic designer.
Support event coordination, including pre‑event supplies and post‑event wrap‑up.
Schedule social media content and monitor platforms.
Update website content.
Requirements
Minimum of two semesters of major‑related coursework in Graphic Design, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time‑management skills.
Ability to manage workflow to meet deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Experience with Canva.
Preferred experience managing a non‑personal Instagram or Facebook account.
Minimum commitment of 12 weeks (about 3 months).
Ability to work up to 15 hours per week during normal business hours (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM).
Occasional availability outside regular hours.

Maintain content and assets in the TUW.ORG website CMS.
Implement social media strategy across multiple platforms.
Gain introductory knowledge of nonprofit communications, philanthropy, and local community issues.
