Job Overview We are seeking an experienced radio news anchor and reporter to join our Des Moines newsroom. This is an in‑office role (not remote) for weekend mornings in multiple major markets.
What You'll Do Write, record, and edit audio for broadcast news stories
Write and publish news content for web and social media
Monitor sources for breaking news, e.g., wires and social media
Plan, write, edit, and voice news broadcasts
Finalize content using digital audio editing software
Maintain crucial deadlines to provide news stories in a timely fashion
Repackage content from producers and field reporters for newscasts
What You'll Need Expertise using Microsoft Office suite and social networking platforms
Knowledge of local and national trends and/or specialized knowledge of subjects/events related to on-air topics
Pleasant, charismatic and well‑controlled voice; excellent pronunciation
Well‑rounded communication skills for conducting interviews
Excellent writing and editing skills; proficient in grammar
Proficiency in media production and broadcast systems
Ability to plan and organize, set priorities and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Bilingualism is a plus
3+ years’ experience in on‑air journalism in a smaller market or college station
4-year college degree, preferably in Broadcast Journalism or Communications
