Communications Coordinator I

Join the HBO Original Documentaries publicity team, supporting the promotion of more than 30 documentary projects each year. This role is ideal for someone with entertainment publicity experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys coordinating events, managing talent logistics, drafting press materials, and keeping high-profile publicity campaigns organized. You'll work alongside a collaborative team supporting premieres, film festivals, awards events, and media campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate publicity activities for HBO Original Documentary releases.
Create and manage show assets, including photos, video clips, loglines, synopses, and promotional materials.
Draft press releases, media alerts, and other publicity materials.
Compile and distribute campaign coverage reports.
Participate in publicity strategy meetings and team brainstorming sessions.
Coordinate travel, itineraries, and glam services for talent.
Support press days, premiere screenings, film festivals, awards events, and special screenings.
Assist with event staffing, logistics, and media relations.
Help ensure successful execution of publicity events from planning through completion.
Track invoices and assist with managing the department's operating budget.
Maintain department calendars and publicity schedules.
Coordinate day-to-day administrative support for the publicity team.
Manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
Required Qualifications
1+ years of experience in entertainment publicity, communications, or a related field.
Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with strong organizational skills.
Knowledge of entertainment media, publicity, and industry trends.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Professional experience interacting with high-profile talent, executives, media, or public figures.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and Slack or similar collaboration tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with social media platforms and digital publicity.
Background supporting television, film, streaming, or documentary publicity campaigns.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
1-3 years of experience in entertainment, television, streaming, publicity, communications, or a related field.
