Job Overview
WCIV in Charleston, SC has an immediate opening for a creative News Producer. In this role, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day production of our newscasts. This position will also work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk and Anchors on newscast content, determine the content and flow of newscasts, and collaborate with management and on‑air staff to generate and write stories as well as develop content for our website.

Determine the content and flow of newscasts

Generate and write stories with management and on‑air staff

Develop content for the website

Qualifications

Solid news judgment

Compelling and accurate writing skills

Ability to multitask and manage time to create engaging and informative newscasts

Capability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment

Strong leadership and communication skills

Ability to execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts

Flexibility and on‑the‑spot problem‑solving abilities

Proficiency with non‑linear editing (e.g., Avid/Adobe Premiere) and newsroom systems such as iNews

Must have some previous news producing experience; entry‑level candidates considered

A journalism degree is preferred
