Position Summary

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, this position is primarily responsible for new business development and managing sales activities within assigned territories, increasing sales and implementing strategic corporate directives.

Core Responsibilities
Sales

Responsible for new business development in assigned geographic territory.

Maintain close, ongoing communications with the Regional Sales Managers.

Build and nurture a professional network to identify new business opportunities.

Meet established goals such as sales targets, customer growth, pipeline buildup, and visits within the assigned territory.

Increase conversion dollars, surpassing year‑over‑year targets.

Drive direct selling strategy on key opportunities, including pricing, service, investment, risk, scheduling and technical promotion issues to achieve successful design wins.

Utilize market and competitor knowledge to identify and develop selling propositions and differentiators.

Collaborate with global engineering and sales teams to develop proposals and present products that meet customer requirements.

Research and present market data to segment teams to identify new product development opportunities.

Collaborate with customer support roles (Field Application Engineer, Segment Managers, Inside Sales Managers, Customer Service Specialists, Technical Support Engineering, Quality Engineering) to optimize service.

Create and deliver customized and targeted product presentations.

Effectively identify and build relationships with key customer decision‑makers.

Participate in or assist with product exhibitions at the OEM.

Prepare and submit sales activity reports on a timely basis, including monthly activity reports, visit reports, Salesforce updates, and product forecasting.

Attend sales meetings when requested and present market, account, and project status updates.

Maintain the Hirose distributor registration program and quote activities within the assigned region.

Ensure design registrations are processed in a timely manner and resolve any conflicts.

Develop strong relationships with account managers at each distribution branch.

Accountable for local distribution success, including growth in POS, new design registrations, existing customer penetration, and new account development.

Maintain high visibility at branch locations to position Hirose products as the connector of choice.

Conduct frequent opportunity reviews with Distributor Account Managers to drive accountability.

Engage with channel sales teams for joint opportunity development.

Ensure sales opportunities are loaded and maintained in Salesforce.com.

Product Development

Identify, evaluate, and coordinate potential product lines with key accounts and future customers.

Implement new product introduction (NPI) plans agreed with marketing, including target account identification, promotion schedule, samples, and pricing while providing direct feedback to Hirose.

Monitor the design process to meet commitment targets with customers.

Continuously monitor industry trends to anticipate needs and position Hirose as the leader in the connector industry.

Interface with industry groups and standards committees as necessary.

Leadership and Teamwork

Consistently demonstrate Hirose’s philosophy of “connecting wisdom” and “always taking the lead, pursuing the cutting edge, achieving differentiation, and being the first to obtain consumer approval.”

Work with Accounts Receivable to ensure accounts are set‑up for timely payment.

Build close relationships with Hirose Japan personnel; assist with periodic customer visits by Japanese engineers and other Hirose personnel.

Create a collaborative team environment with the HRS support groups.

Administration

Complete tasks per ISO9001‑2008 requirements when applicable.

Prepare and submit sales activity reports, including the rolling 12‑month sales forecast for domestic and international, manager’s report, regional program updates, distributor quarterly business reports, private show updates, and information pertaining to the development of Hirose’s CRM database.

Complete all required reports and presentations in a timely fashion.

Requirements

B.S./A degree in Business or Technical field.

Five or more years of sales experience, including five or more years in the electronic component industry (interconnect experience is a plus).

Technical knowledge sufficient to fully comprehend customer requirements and provide appropriate Hirose product solutions.

Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and quality standards.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to work with external and internal customers and across different cultures.

Strong presentation skills, including creating PowerPoint presentations.

Ability to resolve issues and raise them in a timely fashion to meet customer needs.

Computer‑literate and proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Salesforce.com.

Self‑motivated, positive attitude, and great energy.

Ability to travel up to 40% of time to distributor branches and multiple customer R&D locations.

Existing distributor relationships are a plus.

Physical Conditions
Normal office environment; travel to tradeshows and company events; occasional lifting or moving up to 40 pounds; regular speaking or listening; frequent sitting, standing, walking, using hands, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; negotiation of territories may require long‑distance driving or use of available transportation.

Work Environment
The work environment is typically moderate in noise level.
