Part-Time Organist and Choir Accompanist

The Organist and Choir Accompanist is vital to the overall ministry of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. The Mt. Zion Music Ministry has a long, rich heritage and this position should be viewed as a ministry to the congregation. The person in this position will become familiar with the congregational priorities and goals related to their area of service and set goals to help the congregation in fulfillment of these priorities.

Position Highlights

Primary organist and rehearsal accompanist for all church choirs, vocalists and instrumentalists as instructed by the Director of Music

Provide effective Lutheran oriented music for a unified service of worship including Sunday mornings, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week/Easter

Provide music for weddings and funerals as requested

Attend weekly staff meetings at the request of the Director of Music

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in music (organ or church music) is strongly preferred

Proficient in organ and piano

Knowledge of Lutheran worship practice and liturgical settings is preferred

Requires 6–8 hours per week, with flexibility for rehearsals, worship services, and other church activities
